If you thought that Windows Media Player was just a software program to playback your music and video files, then think again! Microsoft's media software player can also connect you to hundreds of Internet radio stations to enable you to listen to streaming audio while you work! This short tutorial will show you how to use Windows Media Player 11 to not only to play streaming music, but how to bookmark your favorite radio stations.

1. Accessing the Media Guide
Windows Media Player 11 has a media guide that you can access by clicking on the Media Guide tab at the top of the screen If using the classic menu mode, then click View > Online Stores > Media Guide. Once selected, you will be presented with the latest top picks which include music, movies, games, and radio. These individual topics can be accessed using the links at the top of this screen, or in the column on the right-hand side of the media guide screen. You'll also notice that there's a Radio Tuner link in this column - click on it to continue this short tutorial.
2. Selecting Streaming Radio Stations
On the Radio Tuner screen there's a list of popular genres that are displayed which you can select to see a list of available radio stations. For example, clicking on the Top 40 link will display a list of streaming radio stations of that particular genre. For a genre not listed, type in a keyword in the search box and click on the green arrow to search for more stations; there's also a short list of featured streaming music stations to get you started. To select a station, simply left-click it using your mouse.
3. Playing Streaming Music
Having selected a radio station, you will see more information about it, along with options for adding the station to your favorites, visiting the Internet radio stations Website, and playing the streaming audio. To start listening to the music being streamed, click on Play. If you get an Enhanced Content dialog box appear on screen, then accept the the request by clicking the Yes button to load the Internet Radio station's Web page.
4. Bookmarking Radio Stations
As there are hundreds of stations to choose from, you'll need to add the ones you like to your favorites list in order to keep track of them. While listening to a radio station, click on the blue Back Arrow icon to get back to the list of stations (as in the previous step) and click on Add to My Stations. To see a list of stations that you have bookmarked, go back to the main Radio Tuner screen and click on My Stations.
